Commissioned by Lorraine Duso. Premiered by the Sunaura Trio: Carolyn Brown (flute), Lorraine Duso (oboe), and Kelly Johnson (clarinet), on March 14, 2010, at the University of Central Arkansas.

The Scherzo has also been arranged for 1 flute and 2 clarinets in B-flat. This version was premiered by the Silverwind Duo (Nicole McPherson & Andrew Seigel) and Katherine Forman Quayle on November 23, 2016, at NYU Abu Dhabi.
